Embark on an odyssey through the works of celebrated Mexican cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa. Known for his work in classics like 1965’s The Night of the Iguana starring Richard Burton and Ava Gardner, Figueroa was known for his precise style, and artistic achievements in framing and rich black-and-white contrast.
Unpacking his iconic style will be Gustavo Arellano, a columnist for the Los Angeles Times and formerly editor of OC Weekly, an alternative newspaper in Orange County, California. He is widely known for his award-winning “¡Ask a Mexican!” column.
Includes a film screening of The Night of the Iguana at The Riviera Theater in Santa Barbara.
